Workshop outline:
Discover the meditative and therapeutic art of wax carving in this hands-on workshop with Milanese jewellery designer Matilde Mozzanega, where you’ll create your own botanical-inspired ring/s. Learn techniques like carving and melting wax to design your very own unique wearable piece of jewellery for yourself or loved one. No prior experience is needed—just bring your creativity!
What will be covered in the workshop:
- An introduction to Wax Carving Techniques, including the historical and cultural significance of wax carving and lost wax casting techniques.
- A short intro about Matilde’s journey and jewellery practice.
- How to choose inspiration for and sketch your botanical inspired ring designs for wax carving and guidance on creating shapes that are comfortable and wearable.
- Demonstration of the skills and techniques to carve 1 or 2 rings using wax tools.
- Hands on creation of your own ring under the guidance of Matilde
- How to finish and clean up your waxes, ready for casting.
Additional Info:
- All materials and tools will be provided
- Casting of your ring in silver is included in your ticket price.
- There is the option to cast in 9ct yellow gold at and/or add up to two semi precious gems to your design, at an additional cost.
- Finishing, polishing and shipping are all included in your ticket price
